This Sunday, the rookies test of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in Bahrain had a particularly illustrious presence. Valentino Rossi made his absolute debut in a prototype, driving an LMP2… and was the fourth fastest.
Il Dottore was aboard the Oreca #46 from Team WRT and set the best of his 68 laps during the afternoon session, in 1m55.118s. He was 0.835s behind Clément Novalak (Inter Europol Competition/Oreca #34), who set the pace.
Since retiring from MotoGP at the end of 2021, Rossi has been competing in the GT World Challenge Europe. Now, he is looking for a future in the WEC, first in the GT3 class, but with an eye on the top class. He currently has a planned test with the BMW LMDh, with no date set yet.
