The Ferrari #50 499P, which initially secured the pole position for the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, was disqualified from the classification for being under the required weight, according to the FIA World Endurance Championship stewards. After post-classification checks, it was found that the car was underweight, resulting in its relegation to the back of the Hypercar grid. As a result, the Porsche #5 963 from the Penske team was promoted to pole position, marking Penske’s 100th pole position in sports cars. The Cadillac V-Series.R #2 will start alongside the Porsche in second place.

Antonio Fuoco initially set the fastest lap time in the Ferrari #50, clocking 2:02.600. However, with the Ferrari’s disqualification, Matt Campbell’s 2:03.107 lap time in the Porsche #5 now becomes the new pole lap for the race.

A Ferrari spokesperson explained that, after a collision with another car during the third practice session, the damaged rear of the Ferrari #50 had to be replaced with a new component. This replacement led to a weight discrepancy, which was discovered during the checks. As a result of the stewards’ decision to exclude all times recorded from the two sessions, the Ferrari 499P will start from the nineteenth position, the last in its class.

Julien Andlauer in the Porsche #99 from Proton Competition will start in third, followed by Will Stevens in the Porsche #12 from JOTA in fourth, and Laurens Vanthoor in the Porsche #6 in fifth position.
