Tony Stewart Leads Explosive NHRA Regular Season Showdown

The NHRA drag-racing campaign is building momentum, with only four events left on the regular schedule before the championship playoffs begin. Because the 2025 season will feature a separate regular-season title, todays races carry added weight, and a combined purse of nearly $400,000 is on the table for Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycle champions.

In Top Fuel, the race for the season prize is razor-close. Tony Stewart sits at the head of the standings, yet Shawn Langdon and Justin Ashley loom close behind. With Langdon 52 points back and Ashley 77 points off Stewarts pace, the next events promise dramatic on-track exchanges.

Funny Car tells a different story: John Force Racings trio of Austin Prock, Jack Beckman, and Force himself has built a noticeable advantage. Prock occupies the lead with a 127-point cushion over Beckman and shows no intention of easing up as the regular season winds down.

In Pro Stock, Greg Anderson and Dallas Glenn have turned their mutual effort into a one-team juggernaut, distancing every other racer in the standings as the long season rolls on. Defending champion Anderson holds a narrow 50-point edge over Glenn, yet their combined record of seven victories in the first eight events makes them the clear dominant force.

The Pro Stock Motorcycle class carries its own time-honored feud, pitting Vance & Hines against Matt Smith Racing while newcomer Gaige Herrera rides at the center of the clash. Although Herrera has not yet matched the near-invincibility of past seasons, three event wins prove he cannot be overlooked.

With only a handful of races left, attention now shifts to Seattle, Sonoma, Brainerd, and Indy, where both hardware and momentum hang in the balance. Fans and racers alike should prepare for each stop, because every round promises the close, heart-pounding drama that only professional drag racing can deliver.
