The decree that regulates the reduction of tolls in various sections of former SCUTs was published today in Diário da República and will come into effect on January 1, 2024.

“The reduction regime applicable to the toll rates, approved by Decree-Law No. 97/2023, of October 17, on the sections of the A 22, A 23, A 24 and A 25 highways, which are part of the concessions of Algarve, Beira Interior, Infraestruturas de Portugal, S. A., Interior Norte and Beira Litoral/Beira Alta, subject to the toll collection regime for users by Decree-Law No. 111/2011, of November 28, and identified in annex i to this decree, which is an integral part of it,” the decree states.

In addition, “this decree also regulates the reduction regime applicable to the toll rates charged to users on the sections identified in Decree-Law No. 111/2011, of November 28, and on the sections of the A 4 – Marão tunnel, A 4 – Vila Real-Bragança (Quintanilha), A 13 – Atalaia (A 23)-Coimbra Sul and A 13-1 highways”.

The same decree also “redefines the modulation regime of the toll rates applicable to vehicles of classes 2, 3 and 4 used in the road transport of goods and passengers on behalf of others or public, when traveling on the mentioned highway sections, in view of the adopted toll reduction, and in order to maintain the overall benefits currently in force”.

The toll reduction that comes into effect in January aims to “strengthen territorial cohesion, with a view to balanced development of territories, reducing regional asymmetries and enhancing their competitiveness,” the Government justifies in the decree.
