Thierry Neuville’s Struggle in the World Rally Championship: Is He Losing His Edge?

Belgian driver Thierry Neuville, the reigning world champion, is currently facing a challenging season in the World Rally Championship. While last year he dominated the standings, this season has been a different story, with Neuville trailing 50 points behind the leader and in desperate need of a breakthrough to defend his title.

Despite a setback in Sardinia where he collided with a wall, Neuville remains optimistic, believing that a change in fortune is on the horizon. Acknowledging the tough competition, with Hyundai up against five Toyota drivers, Neuville maintains his motivation and determination to overcome the obstacles in his path.

Hyundai’s commitment to the upcoming season has injected a sense of confidence and motivation within the team, providing Neuville with the support needed to push forward. The technical director, François-Xavier Demaison, highlighted Neuville’s struggle with the new tires provided by Hankook, emphasizing the challenges of adapting to the performance differences compared to the previous tires used in the championship.

Neuville’s focus is now on fine-tuning the car setup to enhance his comfort and predictability on the track, aiming to improve his performance and minimize surprises during races. Despite the difficulties faced this season, Neuville’s talent and determination remain unwavering as he strives to reclaim his winning form in the World Rally Championship.
