Thierry Neuville Slams Hankook Tires: “Not Up to WRC Standards”
Belgian World Rally champion Thierry Neuville didn’t hold back in his criticism of Hankook tires, claiming they are “not at the level of the WRC” following the Acropolis Rally Greece. Despite leading at one point, Neuville was plagued by three punctures during the event, ultimately finishing in fifth place.
Neuville expressed his frustration, stating, “Hankook has to do a better job… I had internal damage in the tires which obviously occurred while mounting the tires on the rims. That’s not the level of the WRC.”
Fellow driver Takamoto Katsuta also highlighted issues with the tires, mentioning that even those who avoided punctures were facing problems. However, he acknowledged the efforts Hankook is making to address the issues.
In response to Neuville’s claims, Hankook Tire WRC representative Steven Cho emphasized that they take driver feedback seriously and conducted thorough inspections to address concerns. Cho refuted any allegations of incorrectly fitted tires, stating, “Our technical team is working closely with each team to analyze damage patterns.”
