Life is not easy for Xiaomi, which, despite the success of its fully electric model, the SU7, is now facing strong backlash from its customers after a recent software update for the high-end SU7 Ultra.
The Xiaomi Ultra SU7 is the fully electric model that features a Qilin 2.0 battery from CATL with a capacity of 93.7 kWh, powering three electric motors: two HyperEngine V8 motors and one V6 motor, providing a combined power of 1547 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds and reach a top speed of 350 km/h.

The numbers impressed the brand’s customers who enjoy powerful models; however, what they did not expect was that the recent software update would reduce the power to 900 hp, unless owners could prove they were worthy of accessing the full power of the SU7 Ultra.
To unlock the full power of Xiaomi’s electric sports car, owners would have to complete track tests that would allow them to unlock the remaining available power of the SU7 Ultra.

The idea that, according to the Chinese brand, aimed to enhance driver safety ended up generating strong opposition among the owners of the SU7 Ultra, who strongly complained to the company. This, according to “CarsNewsChina”, forced Xiaomi to discard the performance limitations and promised to be clearer and more direct about future software updates.
“We appreciate the passionate feedback from our community and will ensure greater transparency moving forward”, said a company representative to “CarNewsChina”.
