Honda has decided to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the launch of the brand’s first hybrid model in Europe, the Insight, by producing a Civic e:HEV painted in the most silver color in the world, created by the famous color artist Stuart Semple.
Passionate about colors, Stuart creates paintings using only precious materials, mixing real silver flakes (64%) and pigments in acrylic suspension. Therefore, the paint can be easily applied to any type of surface to give it the appearance of solid metal like gold or silver, allowing artists to create works that are true representations of these colors.
After being mixed, the paint was sent to Bournemouth, UK, ready to be applied to the Civic. For three days, a team of specialized painters cleaned and prepared the car’s body in carefully controlled conditions before proceeding to apply several layers of removable protective paint.
After that, using a high-precision spray painting tool, the final layers of “silver paint” were applied to create the unique color of this anniversary Civic.
“Honda’s hybrid experience is unparalleled in the industry. In 1999, we began building the world’s most fuel-efficient car, the revolutionary Insight, which was the first hybrid model. Today, the brand offers a range of fully electrified models, most of which are equipped with the innovative e:HEV propulsion. That’s why we could only celebrate 25 years of Honda’s hybrid technology with an exceptional gift, perfect for celebrating a silver anniversary”, said Nik Pearson from Honda Europe.
