In the end, the price of fuels has decreased less than the expected at the start of this second week of September, after the Government decided to partially unfreeze the carbon tax applied to road fuels, in order to “resume the goal of promoting green taxation and the decarbonization of energy”.
Contrary to forecasts that indicated a drop of 4 cents per liter for regular 95 gasoline, the reduction is only 2.5 cents. For diesel, a decrease of 2 cents per liter was expected, but it ended up being just 0.5 cents.
It is worth recalling that the carbon tax was suspended in 2022 in response to the sharp rise in fuel prices at that time; however, in recent weeks, the Government has decided to begin a gradual update of the carbon tax, taking advantage of the drop in fuel prices.
