The commercialization of the EV4 has begun, in both Hatchback (four doors) and Fastback (five doors) variants, and Kia is already working on the development of a sporty version to position at the top of the model range. Named EV GT, it will be based on the hatchback body and will feature a motor on each axle, for a combined power of around 400 hp.
The first photos released by the South Korean brand of its new creation reveal a heavily camouflaged EV4 Hatchback, with an exterior vinyl covering, aimed at hiding the most distinguishing aesthetic elements. Nevertheless, the green calipers that identify Kia’s electric sports cars, the 20-inch wheels, and the specifically designed bumpers stand out.
According to Auto Express, the EV4 GT is expected to inherit from the EV6 GT and the EV9 GT the Virtual Gear Shift system, which simulates the sound of a gasoline V6 engine and an 8-speed gearbox. In addition to the (much) more powerful and fatigue-resistant braking system, changes to the chassis are anticipated, particularly through the introduction of a specific steering calibration and a variable damping system for the suspension.

In a British publication, David Hilbert, Marketing Director of KIA Europe, stated that the EV4 GT “is the ‘showcase’ of our capabilities to propose a car that can be used every day and, at the same time, guarantees a driving pleasure well above average”. The same official highlighted the fact that this EV4 GT does not aim to be the fastest in its category, but the most fun to drive: “Our approach is much more oriented towards emotions and sensations than towards speed”.
