The “tariff war” continues to cause headaches for the automotive sector, and Nissan is one of the brands affected, having suspended the production of three models intended for Canada that are produced at the Japanese brand’s factories in Tennessee and Mississippi, in the USA.
According to the “Nikkei”, the mutual tariffs imposed by the USA and Canada on automobile exports are the basis for the suspension affecting the SUVs Pathfinder and Murano produced in Tennessee and the Frontier pickups manufactured in Mississippi.
It is worth noting that US President Donald Trump imposed additional tariffs of 25% on automobile imports in April, leading Canada to implement similar measures in retaliation.
The measure is also affecting Mazda Motor, which has halted production at its Alabama factory destined for Canada, at a time when the Japanese brand has increased production for the American market.
