The Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix race will take place early Sunday morning – according to Portuguese time, as locally it will be Saturday night.
Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) starts from pole position, on a starting grid that has changes compared to the qualifying results. Especially in the front rows, as Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) qualified in second place and was penalized ten positions for exceeding the maximum energy storage units.
It was a controversial admonition, as the Spaniard was forced to make this change due to track safety conditions – a manhole cover came loose and damaged his car. However, it was not canceled and Sainz will start from 12th. Among the beneficiaries is Max Verstappen (Red Bull), who will start from second.
Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) was also penalized, with a five-place grid penalty for overtaking under yellow flags. The Canadian qualified in 14th and will occupy the 19th position on the starting grid.
