Renault 5 Turbo 3E: o renascer da lenda

Renault recently announced that it has opened the order book for what is the most expensive model ever from the French brand, the new Renault 5 Turbo 3E, a small yet powerful hatchback, which will have a limited edition of 1,980 units.

With a starting price of €155,000 and a deposit of €50,000, which gives the customer priority in acquiring the Renault 5 Turbo 3E and the option to select their desired number, the truth is that the French brand has received a high number of reservation requests.

“We have already reached 500 customer reservations for the R5 Turbo 3E – plus 200 from our dealership network, which plays a crucial role in this innovative project”, said Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault, in a post on the social network, LinkedIn.

The model that brings back the iconic Renault 5 Turbo from the 1980s features rear-wheel drive, very similar to its predecessor from the 1980s. However, the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produced around 160 hp in the original model will be replaced by two electric motors installed in the rear wheels, allowing for instantaneous power to each wheel, resulting in a combined total power of 540 hp and a torque of 4,800 Nm.

Based on an architecture of 800 volts and equipped with a 70 kWh battery and an onboard direct current charger capable of supporting up to 350 kW, Renault announces that the R5 Turbo 3E charges from 15% to 80% of the battery in just 15 minutes, and that the standard range will exceed 400 km.

Note that the possible customization phase of this sporty model from Renault is planned for 2026, with the first deliveries expected in 2027.
