Tesla has finally unveiled the refreshed Model Y, which is the best-selling electric vehicle globally, and it comes with a series of updates, including a revamped style and a more refined interior filled with technology.
In this way, the updated Model Y features a redesigned front, with split headlights and a new LED strip that spans the entire width of the front, reminiscent of the Cybercab recently presented by Elon Musk’s brand.
There is also a note about the redesigned bumpers, with the front bumper featuring slim air intakes on the sides. Like the Cybercab, the refreshed Model does not display the Tesla emblem on the hood.
The rear section is equipped with a light signature that extends the full width of the vehicle, complemented by a larger trunk door that reaches the bumper, where it is joined by a larger diffuser.
The refreshed Model Y features an increased length, now measuring 4.79 meters after a growth of 41 mm. Additionally, Tesla’s “best-seller” is equipped with 20’’ Helix 2.0 wheels, which may be 19’’ in some markets.
Inside, the updated Model Y maintains a minimalist aesthetic, but with some new features, such as the infotainment system, which now includes a slightly larger 15.4’’ screen, while rear seat passengers now have an 8’’ display.
Moreover, the rear seats can now be electronically folded to increase trunk capacity, while the front seats are now ventilated and feature new upholstery.
The dashboard, center console, and door panels have also been redesigned, incorporating a new ambient lighting strip, and feature soft-touch finishes with vegan suede inserts for the Launch Series. There is also a new audio system with hidden speakers that enhances sound quality.
The refreshed Model Y will initially be available in two versions: Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and Long Range All-Wheel Drive. Tesla has not announced the battery capacity, but indicated that the estimated WLTP range is 466 km and 551 km, respectively. The maximum charging speed remains unchanged at 250 kW, allowing for a charge of 266 km in 15 minutes at a fast charger.
Although Elon Musk’s brand has not revealed data on the electric motors, Tesla indicated that the RWD version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, one second less than its predecessor. Meanwhile, the Long Range AWD ‘Launch Edition’ variant comes equipped with the “Acceleration Boost” as standard, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, 0.1 seconds less. The top speed is electronically limited to 201 km/h.
Asian media has already reported that the refreshed Model Y will arrive in some Asia-Pacific markets in April or May, depending on the market.
