Xiaomi revealed in December the first images of the new YU7 SUV, the second model from the telecommunications giant, following the SU7, which is expected to hit the market in mid-2025.
Although it has already disclosed the dimensions of the new model, Xiaomi has not yet revealed the range data for its new electric vehicle that will compete with the Tesla Model Y.
However, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, the all-wheel-drive versions of the new YU7, which feature two electric motors, claim a range of 670 km, 750 km, and 760 km in the CLTC cycle.
It is worth noting that the all-wheel-drive versions come with a front motor producing 295 hp, combined with a rear motor generating 386 hp, resulting in a combined power output of 681 hp. The two electric motors will be powered by batteries from CATL.
Although the Chinese testing cycle is known for being extremely optimistic, these numbers exceed those of the recently launched refreshed Tesla Model Y in China, which claims
The base model with rear-wheel drive has an announced range of 593 km, while the all-wheel-drive variant claims a range of 719 km in the CLTC cycle. However, Xiaomi has not disclosed range figures for the rear-wheel-drive versions of the YU7.
It is already known that the new YU7 will be produced at Xiaomi’s factory in Beijing, where the SU7 is manufactured, and the launch of the new SUV is scheduled for mid this year.
