Volvo will inaugurate next Sunday, the new “World of Volvo”, a unique experience center located in the heart of the city of Gothenburg, Sweden, marking the 97 years of the brand’s history and the launch of the first car.
Designed around the Swedish concept of “allemansrätten”, which translates to the fundamental right of sharing nature by all citizens, this five-story, 22,000 m² building was designed by Henning Larsen Architects with the vision of creating a building based on the history of the Scandinavian landscape and its surrounding nature. The result is a striking building, entirely constructed in wood, resembling a giant tree surrounded by large glass windows. A landmark for all who visit the city and an essential meeting point for residents.
Designed to be a “platform” that brings people and ideas together, the “World of Volvo” has free entry, two restaurants, and a variety of spacious and dynamic spaces designed to host a wide range of events such as exhibitions, concerts, conferences, gastronomic experiences, and other events.
The experience center allows visitors to embark on a journey through the history of Volvo, from the past to the future, as well as to learn about some of the brand’s historical models and participate in interactive experiences.
“This is a very special moment for us with the opening of the “World of Volvo”. We are looking forward to seeing the encounters that will take place between our visitors and the different parts of the exhibition. We hope and believe that this – the meeting of people, technology, and creativity – will be something truly out of the ordinary.” refers Magnus Wrahme, CEO of the “World of Volvo” in a statement.
