Toyota has released the first images of the next generation of the Hilux, the ninth version of the renowned pickup from the world’s largest car manufacturer, which was launched in its first generation in 1968. The official full reveal of the new model is scheduled for November 10 in Thailand, so, for now, being just a teaser, the video is not very revealing, allowing a glimpse of only a few details, namely the redesigned and slimmer headlights, and the brand name inscribed in the center of the grille, replacing the logo.
The unit in the promotional video also features dark sporty-design wheels. At the rear, the taillights stand out with modern lines and LED technology, along with the small spoiler embedded in the tailgate. No images of the interior are presented, but it is expected that the new Hilux will feature two digital screens, for instrumentation and for controlling the infotainment system (the current generation, launched in 2015, has received several updates over a decade of commercial career to remain attractive and competitive).

In the next generation, the Hilux will maintain the ladder frame chassis in a highly optimized variant of the current one, and will feature a wide range of driving assistance systems. Toyota’s goal is to maintain robustness and versatility, providing driving sensations similar to those of a modern SUV. Under the hood, confirming the available information, there will be a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel with 48 Volt mild hybrid technology, replacing the current 2.4-liter engine.
