The fourth generation of the Skoda Superb has just arrived in the national market, available at a starting price of €41,782.
The new generation of the Superb comes with a more generous length than its predecessor, as the sedan version measures 4.91 meters, which is 43mm longer than the previous model, and 4.90 meters for the estate variant, representing an increase of 40mm compared to the prior version. The width of both versions is identical at 1.85 meters, as well as the height at 1.48 meters and the wheelbase of 2.84 meters.
The trunk capacity is also more generous, increasing by 20 liters in the sedan compared to the previous version, now reaching 645 liters, while the estate version has a capacity of 690 liters, which represents an increase of 30 liters.
Like the latest models from Skoda, the Superb also features a more evolved design, with a body that has been improved for better aerodynamics, achieving a drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.23, which is 10% lower, and 0.25 for the estate, a reduction of 15%.
At the front, highlights include the Matrix LED headlights, the debut of the octagonal grille, and the presence of the new brand logo on the hood. The Superb is also available with wheels ranging from 16 to 19 inches and eight body colors, six of which are new: Purity White, Ice Tea Yellow, Cobalt Blue, Ebony Black, Carmine Red, and Pebble Silver.
The interior of the Superb stands out with the introduction of Smart Dials on the central console, which are three rotary controls with 1.25” screens that can be customized to the user’s preference. These controls allow for adjustments to the seat heating and ventilation, air conditioning, sound system volume, driving modes, among other functions.
The central area of the Smart Dials features four conventional buttons dedicated to the windshield ventilation, rear window heating, air recirculation, as well as automatic air conditioning.
Additionally, it includes a standard 10” digital instrument panel and an infotainment screen of up to 13 inches, depending on the equipment level. An optional Head-up Display system is also available. Furthermore, following the example of the new Kodiaq, Skoda has moved the gear shift lever of the Superb to the steering column, freeing up more storage space in the central console.
The new Superb comes with gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a new plug-in hybrid variant. In this case, the 1.5 TSI Evo 2 engine is combined with an electric motor, a DSG dual-clutch transmission with six speeds, and a battery with a capacity of 25.7 kWh, offering a range of up to 100 km in fully electric mode. It can also accept alternating current charging of up to 11 kW or fast charging of up to 50 kW, allowing it to charge from 0 to 80% in 25 minutes.
As for the combustion engine options, always paired with the seven-speed DSG transmission, the mild hybrid gasoline version, also front-wheel drive, is powered by the 1.5 eTSI with 150 hp; followed by the 2.0 TSI option, with 204 hp, and 265 hp, the latter with all-wheel drive. Finally, among the diesel offerings, the 2.0 TDI is available with two power levels: one version with 150 hp front-wheel drive and a variant with 193 hp and all-wheel drive.
