Nova plataforma da Stellantis promete até 1100 km de autonomia

Stellantis has just unveiled the STLA Frame multi-energy platform, designed for pick-up models with body-on-frame construction and full-size SUV models – a key segment in North America and other global markets.

The new platform is designed to provide a range of up to 1100 km with extended-range electric vehicle (REEV) powertrains and 800 km in 100% electric configuration, as well as a maximum towing capacity of 6,350 kg and a payload capacity of 1,224 kg. Additionally, the platform supports water crossings up to a depth of 610 mm, making it suitable for challenging environments and various uses.

Designed to support full-size pick-ups, light commercial vehicles, and Stellantis SUV models, vehicles equipped with the new platform will initially be available with an innovative range of powertrains, including a fully electric system and an extended-range electric vehicle configuration. The STLA Frame will also accommodate internal combustion engines, hybrids, and hydrogen propulsion systems in the future.

The REEV system, which combines a battery, front and rear electric drive modules (EDM), an onboard generator, and an internal combustion engine, allows drivers to carry or tow heavy loads over longer distances without sacrificing range.

The STLA Frame is constructed with advanced high-strength steel, providing greater durability and rigidity with less weight. The widened central section houses the battery pack, with reinforced cross members that protect it in the event of a side impact. A full longitudinal covering reduces aerodynamic drag to help maximize driving range, highlighting Stellantis’ commitment to efficiency without sacrificing performance.

The platform accommodates battery packs with liquid cooling that range from 159 to over 200 kWh. It has also been designed to support future energy storage technologies, ensuring adaptability in the coming years.

The STLA Frame supports fast charging, and Stellantis announces that in 100% electric configurations, 800-volt DC fast charging up to 350 kW can add 160 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes, while extended-range models can achieve up to 80 kilometers in 10 minutes with 400-volt DC fast charging up to 175 kW.

“Just like the STLA Medium and STLA Large, the STLA Frame combines unprecedented range with new levels of capability and performance to deliver the best range, payload, and towing capacity in its class for our customers who need reliable and powerful ‘pick-up’ and SUV models to transport their families or drive their businesses”, said Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares. “With 100% electric vehicle technology and extended range available soon, we are providing ‘no-compromise’ solutions for buyers who may be hesitant to try their first electric vehicle. We are proud of this engineering marvel and look forward to seeing it come to life in our upcoming product offensive at Jeep and Ram.”

It is worth noting that Stellantis is investing over €50 billion in electrification by 2030 to achieve its ambitious goals: 100% of passenger vehicle sales to be fully electric in Europe and 50% of passenger vehicle and light-duty pick-up model sales to be 100% electric in the U.S. by 2030.
