Volvo has just announced that the new generation of its infotainment system, which is already integrated into the new models EX90, EX30, and XC90, will be available in 2025, automatically, in the systems of all Volvo cars with built-in Google system.
The update will thus be available for models from 2021 onwards, meaning over 2.5 million vehicles, and will be free of charge, implemented gradually throughout the year remotely (over the air), making it one of the most comprehensive infotainment updates from any car manufacturer to date.
“Our new user experience will provide a significant improvement in our offering. This is an important step for Volvo, which aims to offer increasingly more human-centered technological solutions. We will continuously adapt our service to meet our customers’ needs through new and better features provided via over-the-air updates.”, said Erik Severinson, Chief Product & Strategy Officer at Volvo Cars.
The new generation of Volvo’s infotainment system now integrates the most common applications and commands, such as maps, multimedia, and phone, on the home screen – the same setup as the brand’s latest electric vehicles, resulting in fewer taps on the screen to access key functions. There is also a contextual bar that changes what is displayed based on the situation and shows the most used applications. When driving at low speeds, the icons for the exterior cameras also appear to assist with tighter maneuvers.
