Nova geração do Opel Grandland traz inédita versão elétrica com 700 km de autonomia

Opel has revealed that the new generation of the Grandland will feature a unique 100% electric version that promises a range of up to 700 km.

The revamped SUV from the German brand is the first model from the Rüsselsheim house to benefit from the native STLA Medium platform for 100% electric models and will feature a new set of flat batteries with up to 98 kWh, as well as a new generation electric motor and energy-saving features, such as the heat pump, so that the new Grandland Electric can offer a high range.

In addition, in terms of charging, Opel ensures that the new 100% electric Grandland needs about 26 minutes to recharge up to 80% of the battery capacity at a fast charging station.
In addition to the purely electric powertrain, the new generation of the Grandland will also offer a plug-in hybrid variant, which combines a three-cylinder 1.2-liter gasoline engine and a large enough battery to promise 85 km of range in fully electric mode.

Furthermore, the hybrid version with 48 Volt technology combines the same 136 hp engine with a 28 hp 48V motor, transmitting power to the front wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The new Grandland, like the Peugeot 5008, swaps the PSA-designed EMP2 platform for the new Stellantis STLA Medium architecture, allowing the Opel SUV to grow by 173 mm in length, 31 mm in height, and 64 mm in width, making it substantially larger than its predecessor.

Inspired by the Opel Experimental prototype revealed in 2022, the new generation of Grandland comes with a new design focused on aerodynamic optimization to increase the range of the new electric variant.

The front section is marked by the new Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD headlights, which use 25,600 individual LEDs each and are accompanied by a new transparent version of Opel’s Vizor 3D design, which features an illuminated logo for the first time.  From the side, the 19 or 20’’ alloy wheels stand out.

At the rear, the distinctive compass-shaped lighting signature, including the first integration of the illuminated “Opel” designation as part of it, also makes its debut on a production model.

And in line with Opel’s Greenovation approach to conserve all resources related to the car, the name is no longer presented in chrome letters, but centrally engraved on the tailgate.

In the interior, the Grandland is equipped with a 10” digital instrument panel, which in combination with the Intelli-HUD head-up display, avoids the need to take your eyes off the road.

At the center of the dashboard is the central screen of the 16” infotainment system, which can receive over-the-air software updates and is equipped with ChatGPT artificial intelligence. At its base, Opel has kept shortcut buttons for radio and air conditioning controls.

The long wheelbase of the new generation of the Grandland, at 2.78 meters, and the sloping tailgate highlight the increased space in the cabin and the boot. The rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 ratio, creating a cargo volume of up to 1641 liters.

The new top-of-the-line SUV from Opel is equipped with an extensive list of driver assistance systems, including Automatic Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Extended Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Adaptation, and In Crash Braking, a system aimed at helping to avoid a secondary collision in case of an accident, all as standard. The Intelli-Drive 2.0 system, which integrates numerous electronic assistants and combines them with the semi-automatic lane change assistant and recommended speed adaptation, is also available as an option. “The new Grandland is a milestone for Opel. With it, all Opel models, without exception, are now available in electric version. This is a major step in our electric offensive. The new Grandland was conceived and developed in Rüsselsheim and will be built in Eisenach. The relationship with the Opel Experimental is unmistakable. It offers innovations that were first seen in this extraordinary ‘concept car’. The new Grandland will therefore strengthen our position in the important C-SUV segment”, said Opel CEO, Florian Huettl.
