BMW has announced the official start of production of the new M5, in Dingolfing, Germany. The seventh generation of the BMW M5 is the first to come off the assembly line with an electrified powertrain.
The specific M Hybrid system of this model combines a 4.4-liter V8 engine with 585 hp and an electric motor with 197 hp, integrated into the eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, which is powered by an 18.6 kWh battery, promising a range of up to 69 km in 100% electric mode, and AC charging up to 7.4 kW.
Thus, the combined power is 727 hp, with a maximum torque of 1000 Nm, allowing for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.
“We are proud to build the latest generation of the iconic M5 here in Dingolfing,” said the factory director, Christoph Schröder. It should be noted that since 1988, the BMW M5 has been produced entirely at the Dingolfing factory, and currently the high-performance sedan is produced on the same assembly line as other Series 5, Series 4, and M4 models.
It is already known that the new generation of the BMW M5 has a recommended price of €168,000 and that it is expected to be released in November 2024, along with the BMW M5 Touring.
