Tesla is focused on conquering the Chinese market, and after announcing a new version of the Model 3, it is now preparing a new variant of the Model Y with six seats.
According to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT), the new Model YL measures 4976 mm in length, which is 186 mm longer than the ‘normal’ Model Y, 1668 mm in height, which is 44 mm taller, and has a wheelbase of 3040 mm, or 150 mm more.
In addition to the new dimensions, the new YL features exclusive wheels, an updated spoiler, new seats, and it seems that it will be available in a new golden paint color. Inside, there is a third row of seats, bringing the total to six seats.
Documents from the MIIT revealed by the Chinese press also indicate that the new Model YL will have a dual-motor configuration, one for each axle, with 455 horsepower (340 kW).
The launch of the new six-seat Model Y in China is expected in the fall, but it is uncertain whether this new version will reach the European market.
