Mercedes-Benz continues to accelerate its range renewal strategy in 2026, in a true intensive cycle of launches that is marking the automotive sector. Among updates, mechanical comebacks, and new electric models, the German brand is now preparing another highlight: a high-performance AMG version of the electric GLC.
Year marked by launches and strategic news
The offensive began with the update of the S-Class for 2027, followed by the return of six-cylinder engines to the Mercedes-AMG GLC and GLC Coupé versions. The brand also moved forward with the launch of the electric VLE minivan, positioning it as a reference proposal within the segment.
In parallel, Mercedes has been anticipating other models, including the electric successor to the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé and the road version of the AMG GT Black Series, accompanied by the GT3 variant for competition.
Electric GLC gains high-performance AMG version
Among the most recent news is the Mercedes-Benz GLC with EQ Technology, unveiled in September 2025, almost simultaneously with the BMW iX3. This compact electric SUV represents a new approach from the brand, being the first model based on the 800-volt architecture and the new dedicated MB.EA platform.
So far, the brand has revealed only one version, equipped with two electric motors, 483 hp of power, and 590 lb-ft of torque. This configuration allows acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and achieves a maximum range of up to 715 kilometers.
However, new information indicates that a more radical AMG version is already in advanced development.
Prototypes reveal evolution in final testing
Test units of the AMG variant were recently spotted during winter trials, with slight camouflage concentrated on the front and rear areas. Among the visible elements, the presence of an active rear spoiler was noted, observed in operation during the tests.
According to advanced information, this top-of-the-line version is expected to feature a system of three electric motors, raising the combined power to around 700 kW, equivalent to approximately 939 hp.
New electric flagship on the way
If these figures are confirmed, the future Mercedes-AMG GLC electric could nearly double the power of the currently available version, positioning itself as one of the most extreme offerings in the segment.
The arrival of this model is expected later this year, reinforcing Mercedes-Benz's strategy to rapidly expand its electric offerings, including high-performance versions under the AMG brand.
