The market for electrified vehicles grew by 17.4% in February.

Mercado de veículos elétricos cresce 31% em setembro
The Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) revealed that the market for new electrified vehicles grew by 17.4% in the second month of 2024, with 8406 new electric, plug-in, and electric hybrid passenger cars registered in Portugal. Thus, in January and February of 2024, the registrations of these types of passenger cars totaled 15,633 units, resulting in a positive variation of 16.4% compared to the same period in 2023. By categories and types of vehicles, in January, 3191 new electric passenger cars were registered in Portugal, representing a 21.3% increase compared to the same month of the previous year. Regarding light commercial vehicles, ACAP revealed that the market for electric, plug-in, and electric hybrid vehicles showed a positive evolution of 39.4% in the second month of 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, with 244 units registered. In cumulative terms, this market reached 482 units, representing a growth of 39.3% compared to the first two months of 2023. Furthermore, in February 2024, there was a 38.6% growth in the registrations of new electric light commercial vehicles compared to the same month of the previous year, while overall, from January to February, there was a growth of 40.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Regarding the heavy vehicles market, which includes passenger and cargo types, in the month of February 2024, 17 new electrified heavy vehicles were registered, representing a growth of 750%. In cumulative terms, in the first two months of 2024, there was a positive evolution of 366.7% compared to the same period in 2023, with 28 vehicles registered.
