Hyundai will produce the new compact Ioniq Three, a model based on the concept presented by the brand at the latest edition of the Munich Motor Show in Turkey.
The announcement was not made by the company itself, but by Murat Berkel, general director of Hyundai Türkiye. “We will start the production of our Ioniq Three model next year. This will be the first electric vehicle that Hyundai will produce in Europe”, Berkel told the state news agency “Anadolu Agency.”
Furthermore, the head of the Hyundai factory in Turkey also revealed that the first electric model of the Ioniq sub-brand will also be “the first electric vehicle to be exported from Turkey to Europe, after the Togg, a model from a Turkish brand.”
Thus, the production of Hyundai’s new electric vehicle will take place at the Izmit factory, which currently mainly produces compact cars with combustion engines, such as the i10, i20, and Bayon.
It is worth noting that the concept Three marks the debut of the design language “Art of Steel,” which explores sculptural shapes inspired by the properties of steel. The prototype Three measures 4.28 meters in length, 1.94 m in width, 1.42 m in height, and has a wheelbase of 2.72 m, dimensions that place this prototype close to compact hatches.
