Nissan has announced that it has already started production of the fourth generation of the Qashqai at the brand’s factory in Sunderland, UK, ahead of its market arrival in the summer. With over four million units sold in over 100 countries, Nissan’s best-seller has once again been updated, with a bold design and significant technological updates that promise to improve the driver’s experience. The electrified version features the e-Power system, exclusive to Nissan. The new Qashqai arrives as Nissan continues to develop its ‘EV36Zero’ vision in Sunderland, a project for the future of automotive production that brings together the production of electric vehicles and batteries, powered by renewable energy.

“We are very proud to call the Sunderland factory home to the Qashqai. Having the number one team behind the number one crossover is a winning formula, and we can’t wait to see how much our customers appreciate the new design and additional technology,” highlighted Adam Pennick, vice president of production in the UK for Nissan.

It is worth noting that the Japanese brand recently carried out an update of the Sunderland factory that required an investment of around €35 million, in addition to Nissan’s total investment in the UK of over €7 billion.

Conceived, designed, and produced in the UK, the first Qashqai was produced in Sunderland at the end of 2006, before its launch in 2007. Its instant popularity led to record production levels in Sunderland, with the factory recording the highest annual volumes in the history of the UK automotive industry, making the Qashqai the best-selling car built in the UK.
