Ford Mustang GTD Breaks Boundaries: 815 HP and 325 km/h Speed

More than a year after its stunning debut, the Ford Mustang GTD has shattered expectations, revealing even more power than originally promised. The high-performance Mustang now officially boasts an astonishing 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque from its 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, making it the most powerful production Mustang in history. With these mind-blowing specs, it surpasses even the likes of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in horsepower per liter and roars to a top speed of 202 mph.

Ford achieved these jaw-dropping numbers by equipping the Mustang GTD with a smaller supercharger pulley and enhancing both the intake and exhaust systems. This fine-tuning, combined with the debut of a dry-sump oil system—a first for the Mustang—enabled engineers to push the engine’s redline to a sky-high 7,650 rpm, offering a full-throttle experience like no other.

The Mustang GTD’s handling is equally as impressive, thanks to its near-perfect 50-50 weight distribution. This balance is achieved through a rear-mounted eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle gearbox. Power is delivered to the wheels via a carbon-fiber driveshaft, while the rear features a sophisticated semi-active inboard pushrod suspension—visible through the rear bulkhead—that ensures precision on the road and track. Up front, the car employs a short-long arm suspension layout for maximum control.

Ford’s focus on lightweight materials helps keep the Mustang GTD agile. Carbon fiber is used extensively across the car, from the front splitter to the rear diffuser, with optional performance enhancements like dive planes, a large splitter, drag reduction system, and magnesium wheels to further boost performance.

The Mustang GTD is aimed at setting a blistering pace on the Nürburgring, with Ford targeting a sub-seven-minute lap time. Though the company has yet to disclose production numbers, demand is clearly high—Ford received over 7,500 applications for the car in just over a month. With a starting price of $325,000, the Mustang GTD offers an elite driving experience that blends sheer power with cutting-edge engineering.

This beast of a Mustang is not just another muscle car—it’s a technical masterpiece pushing the boundaries of what an American performance car can achieve.
