After months of anticipation, Ford has finally revealed the official numbers for the new Mustang Dark Horse SC — and it is confirmed: we are looking at one of the most extreme Mustangs ever created, although carefully positioned between the legendary GT500 and the radical GTD.
Brutal power, but strategically positioned
The new Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC delivers 795 horsepower and 660 lb-ft (895 Nm) of torque, surpassing the old GT500 (760 hp), but falling slightly short of the 815 hp of the Mustang GTD.
This positioning is not accidental. Ford aimed to create a model that:
- spiritually replaces the GT500
- does not directly conflict with the GTD
- reinforces the top of the Mustang range
“Predator” engine remains the foundation
At the heart of the Dark Horse SC is the well-known 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, known as “Predator,” already used in the GT500 and GTD.
This engine is responsible for transforming the model into a true high-performance muscle car, while maintaining Ford’s classic DNA.

Well above the conventional Dark Horse
To provide context, the base Mustang Dark Horse offers:
- 500 hp
- 418 lb-ft
The SC represents a significant leap, clearly positioning itself as a version much more focused on extreme performance.
Development linked to competition
One of the most interesting points about this model is its origin. Ford confirms that the Dark Horse SC was developed in parallel with:
- the Mustang GTD
- the competition Mustang GT3
This process allowed for the direct transfer of technology and knowledge from the track to the road, reinforcing the character of the model.
Price and market positioning
The Dark Horse SC starts at $108,485, potentially reaching $144,985 with the Track Pack.
Orders are already open, with the first deliveries expected in the summer.
A Mustang for purists and enthusiasts
With this model, Ford is once again making a strong bet on high-performance combustion engines, at a time when the market is beginning to transition to electrified solutions.
A balance between tradition and evolution
The Dark Horse SC shows that there is still room for classic muscle cars, as long as they are combined with modern technology and refined engineering.
It may not be the most powerful in the lineup, but it could be the most balanced between brutality and usability.
