Alpine is preparing a completely new A110, and it is already known that the next generation of the well-known sports car from the French brand will be 100% electric, which certainly does not please the more purist enthusiasts.
However, the CEO of the Renault Group, Luca de Meo, has reassured the minds of the more purist fans by stating that the new fully electric model will be lighter than a combustion engine sports car.
The strongman of the Renault Group has already indicated that the new A110 “will be based on an electric platform for sports models, very similar to that used by the Porsche 911”.
In an interview with “Autocar,” Luca de Meo did not reveal how Alpine plans to make the fully electric A110 lighter than a combustion model, but he reminded that the Dieppe brand has been working for some time on an electric sports car.
Initially, this fully electric model was to be developed in collaboration with Lotus, but the partnership ultimately fell through last year, and the two companies decided to go their separate ways, which led Alpine to continue the development of the new sports model on its own.
The Dieppe brand has already revealed that the new A110 will arrive in 2026 and that aesthetically it will be similar to the current model, especially since Luca de Meo insists that the new 100% electric sports car “needs to be” an A110.
