The new CEO of Renault, François Provost, intends to maintain the current strategic direction of the French brand, but has already made it known that he aims for a significantly faster pace of implementation. The new CEO emphasized that his goal is not a reorientation, but rather an acceleration.

Provost announced that he would accelerate the ongoing transformation in all areas, particularly aiming to increase efficiency and reduce costs. The goal is to reduce costs by at least double-digit percentages. “This target is set, for sure”, he said to the German “Automobilwoche”.

“I do not intend to restructure the organization, in any way”, he stated. In any case, a radical departure from the ongoing strategy would not be expected, as Provost has held leadership positions in the development of this strategy in recent years, under the leadership of Luca de Meo, former CEO of Renault.

However, the main concern of the new CEO of Renault is to accelerate the development of models. “We need the speed of China. The time required to develop new models needs to be significantly reduced. We have no time to lose”, said François Provost, citing the new electric Twingo, which went from project start to production in just 21 months, significantly faster than other models, which often took four years or more to develop.

“Our top priority continues to be our range. It is more up-to-date than ever, and we intend to keep it that way”, explained Provost. To further reduce costs, collaboration with Geely and other Chinese development partners will be expanded through new joint projects and purchasing efficiency.
