The National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP) recorded 18,966 violations in the last six days, of which 602 were related to the use of seat belts, helmets, and child safety seats.
During the campaign, “Buckle Up to Stay Alive,” organized jointly by the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), GNR, and PSP, which took place from September 10 to 16, 53,200 vehicles were inspected in person, and 2,732 accidents were recorded, resulting in 16 fatalities, 45 serious injuries, and 865 minor injuries.
“Compared to the same period in 2023, there were 9 fewer accidents, 4 more fatalities, 2 more serious injuries, and 75 fewer minor injuries.”, emphasizes the ANSR statement.
The joint statement from ANSR, GNR, and PSP explains that during the campaign period, which aimed to raise awareness among drivers and passengers about the importance of always and correctly using safety devices, “321 drivers and passengers were informed with various messages about the importance of the correct use of safety devices”.
This was the ninth of 12 planned awareness and enforcement campaigns under the National Enforcement Plan (PNF) for 2024. Three more campaigns will be carried out by the end of the year, one each month, with awareness and enforcement actions.
