BMW recently announced that it has already produced more than three million electrified vehicles, and now we learn that the BMW Group has produced 1.5 million 100% electric cars.
According to the company, the 1.5 millionth electric model is a MINI Countryman E, which was produced in May and intended for a customer in Portugal.
The story of the BMW Group’s electromobility began in 2013 with the start of production of the fully electric BMW i3 at the Leipzig factory.
The Leipzig factory, which produced the 1.5 millionth electric model, flexibly manufactures vehicles from the BMW and MINI brands on a single assembly line, with all types of propulsion: combustion engines, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles. Additionally, high-voltage batteries are produced for car manufacturing, also in Leipzig and within the BMW Group’s production network.
The company, which in April 2024 reached the production of its one millionth fully electric vehicle, announced that it surpassed the milestone of 1.5 million units produced in just one year.
It is worth noting that in the first quarter of 2025, the German group sold 109,513 100% electric vehicles, representing a 32.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This means that nearly one in five vehicles delivered by the BMW Group currently has fully electric propulsion.
