Audi will close the Brussels production unit, where the Q8 e-tron is manufactured, at the end of February 2025. The decision was announced this week following a meeting between the workers’ council and unions.
The Audi factory in Brussels employs 3,000 staff, who will continue to produce the Q8 e-tron until the closure of that unit. The German brand has been trying to find a solution for the Brussels factory and has been in contact with other car manufacturers to prevent the closure of this newer unit.
In an interview with the Belgian newspaper “The Brussel Times”, Audi Brussels spokesperson Peter D’hoore stated that no viable alternative has been found so far to prevent the closure of that production unit.
The solution for the factory not to close may now lie with a new investor in the commercial vehicle sector, although Audi has not yet disclosed details of the negotiations or the name of the investor.
