“The 10 brands that sold the most electric vehicles in Portugal in May.”

In the fifth month of 2025, 4,478 light passenger vehicles that are 100% electric were sold in the national market, with a clear highlight on BYD, which led the sales table.

According to data from ACAP, the world’s leading manufacturer of new energy vehicles (EV and PHEV) and electric batteries, ended the month of May as the leading monthly brand in sales of 100% electric light passenger vehicles in Portugal, with a total of 441 registered units, representing a growth of 231.6% compared to the same month last year. The first position in sales in May in Portugal is a remarkable achievement for BYD, which is celebrating two years of presence in the national market.

Peugeot occupied the second position with 408 registered units, an increase of 65.2% compared to the same month in 2024.

For its part, BMW, with 399 units sold, occupied the third position in the sales table, ahead of Citroën, which registered 381 fully electric light passenger cars in the fifth month of the year, while Tesla closed the top five with 326 registered units.

The 10 best-selling brands of 100% electric light passenger vehicles in May:

1 – BYD – 441 units

2 – Peugeot – 408 units

3 – BMW – 399 units

4 – Citroën – 381 units

5 – Tesla – 326 units

6 – Volvo – 275 units

7 – Mercedes-Benz – 244 units

8 – Renault – 199 units

9 – Hyundai – 167 units

10 – Fiat – 161 units
