Tesla has confirmed the integration of the artificial intelligence assistant Grok into the infotainment systems of the models available in the European market. This technology, proposed by xAI, which is also part of the business empire of multimillionaire Elon Musk, will be available for free in software version 2026.2.6.
Grok gained popularity on the social network X (formerly Twitter), which was acquired by Musk in 2022. The assistant answers questions on many topics, including physics, mathematics, biology, philosophy, history, etc. In Teslas, and at the driver’s request, it initiates navigation commands – both to set a destination and to adjust routes during travel, or to find and recommend points of interest – consults the owner’s manual, provides advice for optimal use of the vehicle and maintenance tips, and announces and interprets alerts.
Available on the steering wheel and on the touchscreen mounted in the center of the Tesla dashboard, Grok can also present itself with different personalities, as it has modes such as Assistant, Language Tutor, Therapist, Storyteller, Meditation, Doc, and Conspiracy. Additionally, it has modes for children (children’s stories or quiz games) or for adults (Unbalanced, Sexy, Motivational, and Romantic).
The new assistant also allows for customization of the “personas” it can assume, which changes both the voices and the personalities in interactions with all occupants on board. Finally, Grok is available in various languages and enables fluid and humanized conversations.
The activation and use of the new assistant require a subscription to the Premium Connectivity package or a stable Wi-Fi connection. Conversations are always 100% anonymous, including to Tesla, thus ensuring the privacy of all interactions and operations.
