Tesla is preparing to launch a fully autonomous driving service, without the need for human supervision, in Austin, Texas, USA, by the end of the first half of 2025.
The confirmation was made by Elon Musk during the 2024 earnings presentation of the American electric vehicle brand; however, the strongman of Tesla did not clarify whether the vehicles used in this new service will be owned by customers or operated by the brand, nor the prices for this fully autonomous vehicle service.
Musk hopes that Tesla can expand the new service to other cities in the USA by the end of the year, but he noted that it is necessary for the brand to first prove the safety of the autonomous driving system in Texas, in order to demonstrate to regulators that their vehicles are safer in autonomous driving mode than they were.
