Tesla surprised its fans during the presentation of the Cybercab by revealing the Robovan, a fully electric and autonomous bus that can accommodate up to 20 passengers or be used for transporting goods.
Of course, this Robovan is far from a traditional passenger or goods transport vehicle; it resembles more of an “Art Deco” project, with a shape reminiscent of a modern locomotive and no visible wheels.
However, Tesla did not provide many technical details about the Robovan, only confirming that this model will utilize the most advanced autonomous driving system from the American brand.
With a futuristic design, the Robovan is described as a very spacious model featuring an exterior marked by large glass side panels and a light signature with LED technology at the front and rear.
Inside, there are benches and space to stand, with tinted windows all around, and since it is an autonomous vehicle, it does not have a steering wheel or pedals.
Tesla revealed that the Robovan will be integrated into the “Tesla Network,” an autonomous transportation service via app, but did not clarify when this 100% electric self-driving model will go into production or what its price will be.
“One of the things we want to do – and we did this with the Cybertruck – is change the look of the roads”, said Musk. “The future should look like the future”, concluded the strongman of Tesla.
