The highly anticipated range-extending battery pack for the Tesla Cybertruck has been postponed until next year.
The American electric vehicle brand has now confirmed that the new pack will not be ready by early 2025, as initially planned, and has been delayed until mid-next year.
Recall that at the launch of the Cybertruck at the end of 2023, Tesla announced the range extender as a supplemental battery pack that could be installed in the cargo bed of the 100% electric pickup.
Although no technical details about this battery pack have been revealed, the American brand indicated that it could help increase the range of the Cybertruck equipped with two electric motors from 547 km to over 756 km.
The 100% electric pickup comes with three versions of the Cybertruck. The entry-level variant, designated Single Drive RWD, has only one motor and rear-wheel drive, with an estimated range of up to 400 km and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 6.5 seconds. This version will only be available in 2025.
Following is a variant with two motors, which offers a power output of 608 hp and a range of 480 km, allowing for an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.
The top-of-the-line version uses three electric motors that deliver 875 hp, ensuring an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a range of up to 515 km.
