The end of negotiations between Honda and Nissan regarding a merger between the two companies has left a group of prominent Japanese figures, including a former prime minister, concerned about the future of Nissan.
According to reports this Friday from the “Financial Times”, the group led by former Tesla board member Hiromichi Mizuno is being supported by former Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who left office in 2021, and his former advisor Hiroto Izumi, with the aim of convincing Tesla to invest in Nissan.
According to the “Financial Times”, the group supports the proposal for the American brand led by Elon Musk to take on a role as a strategic investor, believing that Tesla may be interested in acquiring Nissan’s factories in the United States.
It is worth noting that after the announcement of the end of negotiations for the merger between Honda and Nissan, the Yokohama-based brand is seeking a strategic partner in the technology industry, with Tesla and Apple being viewed as ideal partners.
