Teenage sensation Seb Murray joins Andretti Cape Indy NXT for 2025: Scotland’s rising star takes on the American stage

Scotland’s Seb Murray has officially landed a coveted seat at the Andretti Cape Indy NXT team, teaming up with Ricardo Escotto to complete the squad’s fresh 2025 lineup. At just 17 years old, Murray is ready to make waves in the fiercely competitive world of Indy NXT, bringing his European and Middle Eastern junior open-wheel racing experience to the American circuit.

A new challenge for Murray

For Murray, the move represents an exciting leap into the unknown. Along with battling on road courses, he’ll face the added challenge of competing on ovals for the first time—a hallmark of American motorsport.

“I can’t wait to be racing with Andretti Cape in Indy NXT this year and would like to thank everybody on the team for giving me this opportunity,” Murray said. “I’m confident that 2025 is going to be a fun season with lots of new experiences for me, such as competing on ovals for the first time.”

Murray’s preparation began during a recent test session in Sebring, where he familiarized himself with the No. 2 car and the team’s engineering crew. “Testing with Andretti Cape Indy NXT in Sebring was a nice way to get to know my teammates, engineer, and the No. 2 crew ahead of the season. I know that Indy NXT is a big step up, but I am prepared to take on the challenge. I can’t wait to get started.”

Cape’s all-new lineup ready for the challenge

With both Seb Murray and Ricardo Escotto joining the Andretti Cape team, 2025 marks a season of reinvention for the outfit. Team principal Dominic Cape expressed his enthusiasm about working with Murray, highlighting the young Scot’s adaptability and promising debut in the Indy NXT car.

“We are extremely excited to have Seb in our Andretti Cape lineup for the 2025 Indy NXT season,” said Cape. “Last week’s test in Sebring gave us some insight into working with him, and for his first time in an Indy NXT car, he was able to adapt and give us some great feedback. The team is eager to work with him the rest of the season and help advance his career to the next level.”

What’s next for Murray and Andretti Cape?

As Indy NXT continues to evolve as a proving ground for future IndyCar stars, Murray’s arrival adds a fresh international flavor to the field. With Andretti Cape’s expertise and Murray’s determination to succeed, 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for the young driver as he navigates the challenges of one of motorsport’s toughest developmental series.
