The journey of Mike Elliott at Mercedes comes to an end. The former technical director is leaving the German team after 11 years of association, having opted for another professional challenge after a break. The successor has not been announced yet.

For 23 years, the Briton has been in the premier category, having entered through McLaren in 2000 as an aerodynamics technician. He joined Mercedes in 2012 and has been an essential part of the successes achieved since then – including the eight consecutive team titles and seven consecutive driver titles.

Toto Wolff, executive director and team principal of Mercedes in F1, said in a statement that Elliott has contributed beyond the technical aspect and admitted that there is a mix of emotions in his departure: ‘Mike has been one of the pillars in the team’s achievements over the past decade, and it is truly with a mix of emotions that we bid him farewell today. Mike is a fiercely intelligent technical brain and a great team player; he has made a strong contribution not only to winning cars but also to building the culture of our team. But on the other hand, it is clear that he is prepared for other adventures beyond Mercedes, so I know that this is the right step for him as well. He leaves the team today with our thanks for the effort, commitment, and expertise he brought to the team over the past 11 years – and our best wishes for the future’.
