Part two of the first two free practices of the Mexico City Formula 1 Grand Prix will be dedicated to work for the exclusive tire supplier, Pirelli. There will be a new compound – a prototype that is a variant of the C4, the second softest in the range – to be tested by all teams at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, already with a view to next year.
With the scarcity of tests during the year, the solution is to take advantage of the free practices of some rounds, which happens again this weekend. Mario Isola, sporting director of Pirelli, explained how this test in the free practices will proceed:
– During the two hours of free practice on Friday, each driver will have two sets of these new prototypes to use as they wish. When we have analyzed all the data, we will then decide whether or not to homologate this version for use in 2024′.
