Racing Fever: Barnard Dominates Second Miami E-Prix Practice

In a thrilling display of speed and precision, Taylor Barnard claimed the top spot in the second practice session for the Miami E-Prix at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The competition was fierce, with Antonio Felix da Costa hot on Barnard’s heels once again.

The morning session saw cooler conditions compared to Friday’s practice, but this did not slow down the drivers. Barnard, driving for NEOM McLaren, set a blistering pace with a time of 1m23.339, outpacing Nick Cassidy’s FP1 best time. TAG Heuer Porsche’s da Costa was a mere 0.190s behind Barnard, followed closely by Nyck de Vries from Mahindra in third place.

Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans and Andretti’s Jake Dennis rounded out the top five, showcasing their skill and determination on the track. Norman Nato from Nissan and Edoardo Mortara from Mahindra also delivered strong performances, securing their spots in the top 10.

The session was not without its share of drama, as Jean-Eric Vernge spun out on his final lap, adding an element of unpredictability to the practice. Despite the mishap, Vernge demonstrated his resilience and expertise behind the wheel.

As the session progressed, drivers pushed themselves to the limit, with some, like Nico Mueller from Andretti, facing challenges on the track. Mueller’s unfortunate encounter with the concrete wall served as a stark reminder of the risks involved in this high-octane sport.

Looking ahead, all eyes are now on the upcoming qualifying session, where drivers will have another opportunity to showcase their speed and skill. The battle for pole position promises to be intense, with each driver vying for a competitive edge in the race to the finish line.

As the anticipation builds for the Miami E-Prix, fans and enthusiasts alike are gearing up for a weekend of adrenaline-pumping action on the track. With top contenders flexing their racing prowess, the stage is set for an electrifying showdown in Miami.
