“Suzuki certifies the real emissions of the entire range.”

Suzuki certifica as emissões reais de toda a gama

Suzuki Ibérica has certified, through an independent study, that its range of vehicles has emissions in real-world conditions well below the limits required by Euro 6 regulations, and even below the compliance factors established for real driving conditions.

In this way, Suzuki is ahead by four years of the regulatory review ‘Roadworthiness Package’, which updates two European directives that will require all European Union Member States to measure the real emissions of vehicles while they are on public roads, align the homologation values with the real values measured in daily use, and verify, through real measurements, the emission levels of at least 30% of the vehicle fleet in each country.

The certification of Suzuki carried out by an independent entity certified the five most representative models of the Japanese brand: Suzuki S-Cross 1.4T Mild Hybrid 4×4, Suzuki Across 2.5L 4×4 Plug-in Hybrid, Suzuki Swift 1.2 CVT Mild Hybrid, Suzuki Vitara 1.4T Mild Hybrid, and Suzuki Swace 1.8L Hybrid.

The measurements were taken on June 11 on an open road in the metropolitan area of Madrid, Spain, under real driving conditions. The data obtained show that none of the vehicles exceed the Euro 6 limits for NOx, particulates, CO, and hydrocarbons, and that all these values are well below the conformity factor (CF) that the EU applies for RDE tests, Real Driving Emissions.

The average values obtained reveal particularly wide safety margins for NOx and PM: reductions of up to 70% and 90%, respectively, compared to the maximum allowed value by the Euro 6 standard, without resorting to any “laboratory” mode or transitional regulations.

“Transparency is the best certification that our hybrid solutions work,” said Juan Lopez Frade, president of Suzuki Ibérica. “We allowed an independent third party to measure our cars in full public view and the numbers speak for themselves: we are the first mainstream brand to present public evidence of its actual cleanliness before Europe demands it,” concluded the same executive.
