Supporters of Canapino once again send online threats to a competitor in IndyCar.

Agustin Canapino, a driver for Juncos Hollinger, faced threats from Argentine fans after the Detroit Grand Prix. The online abuse was brought to attention when Arrow McLaren and JHR issued a joint statement condemning the behavior. The incident that sparked the anger occurred during a restart on lap 60, when Theo Pourchaire misjudged his braking zone and collided with Canapino. Despite causing Canapino to lose positions, the contact was not the most significant event of the race, which had several caution periods and similar errors from other drivers. The joint statement emphasized the importance of respect and civility in online interactions, stating that abuse and discrimination will not be tolerated. This is not the first time Canapino’s rivals have faced online abuse, as similar incidents occurred in 2023. Pourchaire, the target of recent hate, expressed sadness over the threats and called for kindness and understanding. The Juncos Hollinger Racing team has not publicly addressed the issue, and Canapino has not commented on the abuse or the team’s statement. Ricardo Juncos, co-owner of JHR, has not made any public statement about this incident.
