Alpine’s Rising Star Franco Colapinto Struggles to Shine in F1 2025

The 22-year-old driver, Franco Colapinto, who made a remarkable impression as a substitute for Williams last season, is currently facing a challenging time at Alpine in the 2025 Formula 1 season. Since taking over from Jack Doohan seven races ago, Colapinto has failed to secure a single point, contrasting with his teammate Pierre Gasly’s 13-point haul during the same period.

Colapinto’s journey in F1 began last year when he replaced Logan Sargeant at Williams for the final nine races. His stellar performance included scoring points twice in his first four Grand Prix races. However, the young driver is now struggling at Alpine, citing a lack of confidence in handling the car as a significant hurdle.

“I’m lacking confidence with the car. I’m struggling to turn in and come into corners, which is affecting my performance,” Colapinto confessed ahead of the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix. Despite his current challenges, he remains optimistic about improvement, emphasizing the ongoing efforts with the team to address the issues.

Acknowledging the need to maximize his performance throughout the race weekend, Colapinto expressed confidence in the progress being made behind the scenes. While results might not reflect immediate changes, he believes in the team’s collaborative efforts to enhance his performance on the track.

As Formula 1 gears up for the summer shutdown post the Hungarian GP, drivers usually take a break to recharge. However, Colapinto, with a delayed start to the season and a quest for better results, will continue working diligently through August to refine his skills and enhance his performance on the track.

With determination and perseverance, Colapinto aims to return stronger post the summer break and showcase an improved performance in the upcoming races. As the young driver navigates through this challenging phase, his dedication and hard work will be crucial in shaping his future in the world of Formula 1.
