Struggling Trackhouse Racing Team Blames Lack of Speed for Decline in Performance

In a shocking revelation, Ross Chastain, the driver for Trackhouse Racing, has attributed the team’s recent struggles in the NASCAR Cup Series to one simple factor – a failure to keep up with the competition. Chastain expressed his concerns during a recent interview, highlighting the team’s inability to match the pace of other cars on the track.

The once-promising team, which saw Chastain clinch four victories in 2022 and 2023, has experienced a significant downturn in performance. Despite a strong start in 2022 that nearly led to a championship win, Trackhouse Racing has faltered in the past year, with Chastain failing to secure a playoff spot and the team finishing a disappointing 19th in the championship standings.

Chastain pointed out that the transition to the Gen 7 car and the team’s testing process have played a role in their struggles. While the team initially found success with innovative setups that provided a speed advantage, they have since been unable to maintain their competitive edge.

As the 2025 season unfolds, Chastain described the team’s performance as a “roller coaster,” with inconsistent results and ongoing challenges with speed, balance, and handling. Despite these setbacks, Chastain remains optimistic about the team’s ability to bounce back and improve their performance in the upcoming races.

Reflecting on past races, Chastain expressed confidence in his team’s potential to compete at the highest level and secure victories. He highlighted missed opportunities and strategic errors that have cost the team valuable points, emphasizing the need for better decision-making and setup adjustments to achieve success on the track.

With mounting pressure to reverse their fortunes, Trackhouse Racing faces a critical juncture in the season as they strive to overcome their performance issues and return to their winning ways. Will Chastain and his team be able to rise to the occasion and reclaim their position among the top contenders in the NASCAR Cup Series? Only time will tell.
