Stoffel Vandoorne Shocks Formula E World with Jaguar Reserve Driver Signing After Maserati Exit!

Stoffel Vandoorne Makes a Shocking Return to Formula E: Jaguar Snatches Up the 2022 Champion!

In a stunning twist that has sent shockwaves through the motorsport community, former Maserati driver Stoffel Vandoorne is making headlines once again as he joins Jaguar TCS Racing as their new reserve driver. Just moments after exiting Stellantis, Vandoorne’s swift return to the Formula E paddock is a testament to his undeniable talent and determination to stay in the competitive scene.

The Big Cat, Jaguar, had been on the prowl for a replacement since releasing their former reserve driver, Joel Eriksson, who has secured a full-time seat with Envision. Enter Vandoorne, the 2022 Formula E world champion, whose stunning triumph in Tokyo last season showcased his prowess behind the wheel. The Belgian driver is set to team up with Tom Dillmann, who has spent six years as a reserve and simulator driver for the iconic British brand.

Vandoorne’s transition comes on the heels of Maserati’s strategic overhaul, with Citroën stepping in to replace the legendary racing name. This shake-up has led to a complete revamp of their driver lineup, bringing in Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne, effectively sidelining Vandoorne. However, his alliance with Jaguar keeps him firmly in the mix, preserving his chances for future opportunities with the anticipated Gen4 series set to launch at the end of 2026.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Jaguar TCS Racing as reserve driver for the upcoming season,” Vandoorne expressed with enthusiasm. “It’s a team I’ve long admired for its performance and professionalism, and I’m excited to contribute to their continued success.” His eagerness to support the team both on and off the track reflects his commitment to pushing the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 to its maximum potential.

As Jaguar gears up for the upcoming season, the pressure is mounting on current drivers Mitch Evans and Antonio Felix da Costa, as well as Sebastien Buemi and Eriksson at Jaguar’s customer team, Envision. With Vandoorne now in the mix, the competition within the team is sure to intensify, raising the stakes for all involved.

In addition to this electrifying signing, Jaguar has been busy preparing for pre-season testing scheduled for next week at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. The team also announced the inclusion of female drivers Jamie Chadwick and Juju Noda for the second edition of Formula E’s women’s test, highlighting their commitment to diversity in motorsport.

And if that wasn’t enough, Jaguar has unveiled an eye-catching new livery, promising an exciting visual experience for fans as the season kicks off. With all these developments, the motorsport world should brace itself for an exhilarating season ahead, with Vandoorne back in action and ready to make his mark once again.
