One of the most successful models in the history of Ford Europe, the Mondeo quietly ceased production in 2021 (followed by the Fiesta and the Focus), after nearly three decades of uninterrupted production. However, in China, it continues to be marketed, and Changan, the local partner of the American brand, will present its updated version on December 4th.
According to Changan Ford, the new Mondeo will feature a significantly modernized design, and a higher quality interior with more equipment (among the highlights are the nautical-inspired floating central console, and the 27’’ screen with 4K technology – across all versions, Qualcomm’s 8155 chip, and the SYNC+ infotainment system with Gaode navigation). Significant improvements in onboard space are also announced, especially in the rear seats.
Under the hood, a 2.0 EcoBoost engine with 261 hp and 408 Nm – combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The China-made Mondeo is sold in other markets, namely in Middle Eastern countries, under the name Taurus.
